Conduits | Major Disconnects | Lagtime | RAM: The Open Book

Kimberly Kradel

I've always considered myself to be a painter - even though I studied photography for a few years before getting my degree in painting. In spite of that, I've finally come to realize that I am very much a mixed-media artist. I like to work with whatever materials are available to me at any given time.

I find that my work throughout the years is tied together by one of two things. Pieces or series are tied together visually, or they are tied together conceptually. They are usually not tied together by both, but maybe I am speaking too soon.

I am fascinated by the concepts of time and space, as well as by chaos theory and communication. Somehow in my mind these subjects are connected and they appear in my work over and over again, usually subconsciously at first. I like to think I have control over my work, that I can break away from routines, but I don't. In the end, I myself am just a conduit.
