Artist Statement
I've always considered myself to be a painter - even though I seriously studied photography for a few years before getting my degree in painting. Recently I've come to realize that I am very much a mixed-media artist. Not so much because I like to work with mixed-media within one piece, but because I like to work with whatever materials are available to me at any given time. So my portfolio as a whole is mixed-media.
I find that my work throughout the years is tied together by one of two things: pieces, or series, are tied to each other either visually or conceptually.
I am fascinated by the concepts of time and space, as well as by chaos theory and communication. In my work these subjects are connected and they appear in my work over and over again. At first they apeared subconsciously, but now the themes are intentional.
