Artist Statement
I've always considered myself to be a painter - even though I studied photography for a few years before getting my degree in painting. In spite of that, I've finally come to realize that I am very much a mixed-media artist. I like to work with whatever materials are available to me at any given time.
I find that my work throughout the years is tied together by one of two things. Pieces or series are tied together visually, or they are tied together conceptually. So far they haven't been tied together by both.
I am fascinated by the concepts of time and space, as well as by chaos theory and communication. These subjects are somehow connected and they appear in my work over and over again. At first they apeared subconsciously. But now the themes are intentional.
I like to think I have control over my work, that I can break away from routines, but I don't. In the end, I myself am just a conduit.
